Bio: These two Social Justice Mentors have been outstanding as returning students to the SJ program. Emma has started a school wide campaign to help our campus do the right thing by no longer ordering apparel from companies who use sweatshops. Martin focuses most of his efforts on the plight of farm animals and looks to help others make a compassionate choice when they sit down to eat. These eleventh graders are bound to raise eyebrows well into their senior year.
Farmed animals have no federal legal protection from horrific abuses that would be illegal if they were inflicted on dogs or cats: neglect, mutilations and drug regimens that cause chronic pain and crippling, transport through all weather extremes, and inhumane slaughter. Yet farmed animals are no less sensitive, intelligent, or capable of feeling pain than are the dogs or cats whom we cherish as companions.
Sweat Free LCC!
A Sweat Free La Costa Canyon is on its way. Social Justice students are moving toward passing a policy with the administration that would make our campus the first in the area to align our school and community conscious with a school policy regarding the manufacturing and production of LCCHS clothing.
